For the second consecutive week, an NFL preseason game wasn't completed after a player suffered a significant head injury.

A week after an injury to Patriots CB Isaiah Bolden ended New England's game against the Packers early in the fourth quarter, Saturday night's matchup between the Dolphins and Jaguars came to an early end when Miami WR Daewood Davis was carted off.

There were more than eight minutes left in the fourth quarter, with the Jaguars leading 31-18.

Davis was down on the field for several minutes, lying motionless, before being loaded onto a backboard and carted off. He suffered an apparent head injury in a collision with Jaguars LB Dequan Jackson.

Fortunately, the Dolphins' update on Davis was a positive one. The team said he was taken to a local hospital but was conscious with movement in all extremities. Bolden similarly avoided any serious complications after his injury last week.

Davis is competing to make the Dolphins' roster after going undrafted out of Western Kentucky earlier this year. He started his career at Oregon but racked up 1,635 yards between two seasons with the Hilltoppers.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel initially struggled to find the words when asked about Davis after the game, choking up and praising Davis' "magnetic" personality.

Davis was held without a catch in the preseason, and Saturday's injury unfortunately prevented him from taking advantage of an opportunity in the waning minutes of the Dolphins' final preseason game. Most importantly, though, Davis seems to have avoided any serious complications.
