Daniel Jones made his return to the Giants lineup against the Raiders after a three-week absence due to a neck injury. It didn't last long.
Jones played the first quarter but appeared to get banged up during it. He was seen favoring his right knee at times, but he stayed in the contest despite that.
However, on the first play of the second quarter, disaster struck for the Giants. Jones dropped back to pass on a second-and-17 before falling to the ground after suffering an apparent non-contact injury.

The good news is that Jones was eventually able to get up and walk off the field under his own power. The bad news is that he went straight for the blue medical tent before being taken to the locker room.

Daniel Jones injury update
According to Fox's broadcast of the game, Jones told Saquon Barkley that he didn't know exactly what had happened when he got injured.
"It just buckled,” he said of his troublesome knee.
The Giants haven't yet provided an update about Jones' status, but it's hard to imagine that he would return to the game considering how gingerly he was walking.
So, with Jones and backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor both potentially out of action, the Giants will have to turn to their third-stringer to try to lead them to a victory over the Raiders.

Who is the Giants backup quarterback?
The Giants' backup quarterback is Tommy DeVito with Taylor on injured reserve. DeVito is an undrafted free agent who played collegiately at Syracuse and Illinois before joining the Giants.
DeVito, a 25-year-old New Jersey native, performed well for the Giants during the 2023 NFL preseason. He completed 43 of 64 passes for 453 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions while seeing action across three games. That was good enough to get him a spot on the team's practice squad following the preseason.
The Giants signed DeVito to the team's 53-man roster on Oct. 31 after placing Taylor on IR. He and Jones are the only quarterbacks currently on the Giants' roster, so he would likely be called upon to start if Jones needs to miss additional time because of his knee injury.
DeVito entered Week 9 having completed 2 of 7 career passes for negative-1 yards in limited NFL action. He also scrambled for 12 yards and a touchdown on four carries, so his mobility may be his greatest asset if he is called upon to lead the Giants.

Giants QB depth chart
Below is a look at the Giants' current quarterback depth chart:
Rank | Player |
1 | Daniel Jones |
2 | Tommy DeVito |
3 | Matt Barkley |
4 | Tyrod Taylor |
As it stands, DeVito is the only healthy quarterback on the Giants' 53-man roster, but they do have a veteran on the practice squad: Matt Barkley. He would presumably be called upon to back up DeVito — or start over him — if Jones has to miss time because of his injury.
Taylor is recovering from a rib injury that landed him on IR. As a result, he will be out until at least Week 14. Were he healthy, he would be the team's backup quarterback and he could be counted upon to start the final few games of the season if Jones is sidelined for the rest of the season.
But for Week 9, DeVito figures to be the Giants' only quarterback option. And their plans at quarterback beyond this week will depend on Jones' prognosis.
