Gerald McCoy has agreed a three-year contract to join the Dallas Cowboys, according to widespread reports.

Six-time Pro Bowl selection McCoy spent last season with the Carolina Panthers, having played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first nine years of his NFL career.

Pending a physical, the 32-year-old will now bolster a Cowboys defense which has lost pass-rusher Robert Quinn, defensive tackle Maliek Collins and cornerback Byron Jones so far in free agency.

DT McCoy started every game for the Panthers last season and registered five sacks ahead of his move to the Cowboys, who have also re-signed linebacker Sean Lee.

On the other side of the ball, quarterback Dak Prescott was handed the exclusive franchise tag and Amari Cooper, the top wide receiver to hit the open market, stayed with the team on a five-year, $100million deal.

Elsewhere, the Cincinnati Bengals have spent big with the expected acquisitions of DT D.J. Reader from the Houston Texans on a four-year, $53m deal and former Minnesota Vikings CB Trae Waynes, who has landed a three-year, $42m pact.

Former Cowboys tight end Jason Witten has landed with the Las Vegas Raiders, while ex-Atlanta Falcons pass-rusher Vic Beasley has joined the Tennessee Titans, both on one-year agreements.
