Police say an Austin, Texas, man stabbed his stepmother to death for "gloating" about the Dallas Cowboys victory Sunday, TV station KEYE reported, citing an arrest affidavit.

Pontrey O'Neal Jones, 20, is in custody in the Travis County Jail and charged with first-degree murder.

According to police, Jones' father and the victim, Magdalena Ruiz, 35, watched the Cowboys' 26-20 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and afterward Jones said Ruiz was "disrespecting his father and gloating about how the Cowboys won the game."

At approximately 10:40 p.m. local time, police say Jones stabbed Ruiz multiple times from behind and then fled the South Austin apartment. He was found about 10 minutes later, lying naked in the grass along a busy Austin street, police say.

Jones' bond was set at $500,000.
