Ahead of the Cowboys' Week 1 game against the Browns, quarterback Dak Prescott signed a huge contract that will keep him in Dallas for the foreseeable future. He led the Cowboys to a Week 1 win, picking up momentum for a Week 2 matchup against the Saints.
Dallas was at home, but more was needed to help them pick up a Week 2 victory. This game felt like it was over at halftime when New Orleans was up 35-16. The Saints were held to just nine more points in the game, but Prescott couldn't take advantage. The Cowboys scored three points in the second half. While you can't blame Prescott for the defense's shortcomings in the blowout loss, he still had a mediocre outing compared to what was expected of him.
Cowboys fans were already not sold on Prescott long-term, and now they are tied to him for four more years. Let's look at how Prescott did in Week 2 and see if Dallas was too quick to dish out his contract.

Prescott's box score doesn't look that bad. A quarterback with nearly 300 yards passing is usually praised, but from the fact that Dallas abandoned the run early, you'd think that he would have eclipsed the mark and then some. Some bad incompletions for Prescott may not have hurt much at the moment, but looking back in the game was pivotal.
Prescott had two interceptions in the game, but one wasn't 100 percent his fault. He targeted Jalen Brooks, who fell on the route, which allowed the defensive back to jump the route for the easy interception.

The other interception was indeed his fault as he threw into coverage. Tyrann Mathieu didn't have much trouble bringing this one in for the Saints.

Dak Prescott Contract
Prescott was in the final year of his previous contract. With players like Lamb and Micah Parsons also needing new deals, the quarterback may be the odd man out and donning a new uniform in 2025 and beyond. Then, the news broke in Week 1 that Prescott had signed a four-year, $240 million extension that would keep him with the Cowboys and make him the highest-paid player in NFL history.

Dak Prescott Highlights
While the game ended in a loss, it wasn't all bad for Prescott. He connected with Lamb on a 15-yard pass that Lamb then turned into a 65-yard touchdown after evading some would-be tacklers.
