Lucky Whitehead did not travel with Dallas for one of its biggest games of the season.

The Cowboys wide receiver and kick returner has been ruled out of Sunday night's game at MetLife Stadium against the New York Giants for violating club rules, the team announced.

While the team did not specify which rule was broken, multiple reports claim the benching was due to a missed meeting. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, missing team meetings has been a recurring issue for Whitehead. As a result, the team opted to leave him in Dallas this weekend.

Whitehead, 24, has served as the Cowboys' primary kick and punt returner this season. He's averaging 23.8 yards on 10 kickoff returns and 8.8 yards on 19 punt returns after playing in all of Dallas' first 12 games.
