The NFL is attempting to force an end to Colin Kaepernick’s collusion case against the league, Yahoo Sports reported, citing unidentified sources familiar with the proceedings.

The league is asking arbitrator Stephen Burbank to provide a summary judgment, under an article in Collective Bargaining Agreement for collusion disputes.

In short, Burbank must decide whether Kaepernick’s legal team has uncovered sufficient evidence to allow the case to move forward. Kaepernick's attorneys have deposed multiple witnesses, including NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and multiple NFL owners, GMs and coaches and also also collected digital evidence such as emails and text messages.

If he determines that evidence is lacking, then Burbank can make a summary judgment in the NFL's favor, ending the case.

Kaepernick alleges that the NFL and teams have made a coordinated effort to keep him out of the league because he initiated protests of social injustice and police brutality by kneeling during the national anthem.
