Chris Johnson believes his playing time was controlled by Jets GM image

Chris Johnson believes his playing time with the Jets was controlled by general manager John Idzik rather than head coach Rex Ryan.

"When I sat down and talked to Rex before I signed with the Jets, my role and my situation was explained to me totally different to what actually happened,” Johnson said on the Rich Eisen Show. "I think a lot of the stuff was out of Rex’s hands."

Johnson, 29, came to the Jets last season after six years with Tennessee. He rushed for a career-low 663 yards on 155 carries and had only one rushing touchdown, while his teammate in the backfield, Chris Ivory, ran for 820 yards and six touchdowns.

"It was never a type of thing where I was just being outplayed or anything like that," Johnson said. "It was never a situation where I got the opportunity to show my talents and be used the way that I was supposed to be used.”

Known as "CJ2K," Johnson led the NFL with 2,006 yards rushing in 2009.

In addition to his woes in New York, Johson was also arrested on weapons charges last month in Florida.

The Ravens may be a potential landing spot for Johnson if they are unable to re-sign Justin Forsett, according to the New York Daily News.
