Chiefs WAGs reality show, explained: Bravo to develop show about Kansas City players' significant others image

With the advent of social media, it's never been easier to glimpse into the personal lives of professional athletes, including their families, homes and hobbies.

One of the unfortunate results of this otherwise positive development is the subsequent death of reality shows centered around their significant others. From "Football Wives" to the "WAGS" basketball series, sporty iterations of "Real Housewives" have slowly gone out of style.

Until now.

One NFL team that has received unprecedented levels of attention in the last few years might just be re-entering the unscripted television market. Chiefs players' wives and girlfriends are reportedly filming a reality show, leaning further into their new female audience which can be largely attributed to tight end Travis Kelce's pop star girlfriend, Taylor Swift.

Here's everything to know about the Kansas City WAGs reality show, including whether Swift will feature in the Bravo show about Chiefs players' significant others.

Chiefs WAGs reality show, explained

People revealed a reality show centered around the lives of Chiefs players' significant others is currently in development with Bravo. Few details about the show have been made public, but it is rumored it will include wide receiver Mecole Hardman Jr.'s fiancé Chariah Gordon and defensive tackle Chris Jones' girlfriend Sheawna Weathersby, with whom he shares two kids.

"There's still lots to figure out, including who would be a part of the final cast and whether there's enough there to build a full series around. It's very much a work in progress," said People's source.

Hardman Jr. and Gordan got engaged in June after about three years of dating, and they coincidentally welcomed their first child on Super Bowl Sunday in February. The Chiefs won their second consecutive title that day, but Gordon unfortunately didn't see much of the game as her water broke before kickoff.

What is a WAG?

"WAG" is an acronym standing for wives and girlfriends. While Bravo has yet to reveal any information about the show's title, it's common to see the term WAG used when when referring to athletes' female significant others.

E! produced a reality series about NBA wives and girlfriends titled "WAGS" from 2015 to 2018—the show featured seasons in Los Angeles, Miami and Atlanta.

Will Taylor Swift be featured in the show?

People later confirmed both Swift and Patrick Mahomes' wife Brittany Mahomes will not feature in the upcoming series. The show is likely to focus on Gordon and Weathersbys' group of friends, "who all know the struggles of being partners to these workaholic athletes," People's source said.

"Taylor and Brittany are not part of the show at all and will not even be filmed," the source continued. "Taylor especially is very protective of what little private life she has left."

While Swift will not appear on the show, she has developed friendships with both Gordon and Weathersby since beginning to attend Chiefs games in support of Kelce.

The singer has only attended Kansas City's first two games so far this season, but she appeared in Instagram posts with each of the significant others. After the team's Week 1 matchup against the Ravens, Gordon posted a photo of both couples in their postgame fits.

The following Sunday, Weathersby also posted with Swift. She captioned the picture "The score's never even. We're always up 1," in reference to the Chiefs second win over the Bengals by one, 26-25.
