Terrible Carson Wentz interceptions put Eagles in hole against Giants image

Carson Wentz is better than this — we think.

The optimism among Eagles fans after the first three games of the rookie quarterback's career has regressed during the last four weeks, during which the Eagles have gone 1-3 and Wentz has managed just one passer rating above 100 in a game. His odds of getting back into a groove didn't look good after two drives against the Giants on Sunday.

Wentz threw a bad interception on Philadelphia's second play from scrimmage. New York scored two plays later.

Then, on the next drive, Wentz threw another bad interception, this time on the third play of the drive. The Giants scored off the turnover again to take a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

The Eagles, stuck in a three-way tie with the Giants and Redskins (all 4-3) behind the Cowboys in the NFC East going into Week 9, badly needed a division win on the road, especially after they dropped last week's game in Dallas.

Wentz somewhat redeemed himself on the Eagles' third drive, when he drove the team into field-goal range.
