Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson are poised to set new records for NFL quarterback contracts this offseason, and that bodes well for the Panthers' Cam Newton.

According to the Charlotte Observer, Newton’s representatives were scheduled to meet with Panthers officials at the NFL Combine on Saturday. According to sources, Newton will patiently wait for Luck and Wilson to reset the quarterback market before inking his new deal.

If Newton is satisfied with the offer from Carolina, he would be interested in signing a long-term deal.

The Colts are reportedly ready to offer Luck upwards of $25 million a year, while Wilson could be the first QB to receive a fully guaranteed extension.

Newton will make $14.7 million next season after the Panthers picked up the fifth-year club option on Newton’s rookie deal. Panthers GM Dave Gettleman has repeatedly said he views Newton as a franchise QB.

Newton, 25, is a former Offensive Rookie of the Year and has made two Pro Bowls since being drafted No. 1 overall out of Auburn in 2011 — the year before Wilson and Luck came into the league.

He led the Panthers to NFC South titles the last two seasons. In his four seasons as a pro, Newton has thrown for 82 touchdowns and rushed for 33 more.
