Browns veterans confronted Baker Mayfield after negative comments image

Baker Mayfield's comments about Duke Johnson's trade request apparently didn't go over too well in the locker room.

Several veteran Browns players approached Mayfield about his comments and expressed their displeasure with how he handled the situation, according to NFL Network.

The group hashed out their differences surrounding the situation and the team has apparently moved on.

Mayfield's comments about Johnson's request were not, by any, means neutral.

"It's not awkward. It's self-inflicted," Mayfield told reporters. "I hope he does his job."

He continued: “If we have guys that want to be here, they’ll show that, they’ll voice that. Obviously, he’s going to handle his stuff how he wants, but you’re either on this train or you’re not, it’s moving. You can get out of the way or you can join us.’’

Johnson has requested a trade from the Browns after the team picked up free agent running back Kareem Hunt this offseason.

According to Johnson, the team put his name on the block and were searching for suitors to take the running back.

He says he then requested a trade because he felt unwanted.
