Amid their disastrous quarterback woes, the winless Cleveland Browns are putting their faith in Josh McCown — again.

The veteran quarterback is expected to start Sunday against the New York Jets after rookie backup Cody Kessler sat out Wednesday's practice because of his concussion, cleveland.com reported.

McCown suffered a broken left collarbone in a Week 2 loss to the Baltimore Ravens but began throwing again two weeks ago. While he wouldn't specify if he's been cleared to return to action, he did reveal he underwent X-rays recently and indicated he's moving in the right direction.

Meanwhile, Kessler likely won't be cleared until Friday at the earliest. He became the 26th starting quarterback used by the Browns since 1999 and the fifth to take snaps this season. But he left the team's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday to be evaluated for a concussion and was promptly replaced by fellow rookie Kevin Hogan.

Hogan, who was signed to the Browns' practice squad Sept. 4 and promoted to the active roster Oct. 11, filled in admirably for Kessler and will be ready to go Sunday should the injury bug bite McCown again.
