Browns' Christian Kirksey: ‘We’re not going to go 0-16’ image

It's not exactly Joe Namath before Super Bowl III, but linebacker Christian Kirksey has a guarantee for fans of the 0-9 Browns.

"We're not going to go 0-16,'' he said after Cleveland's 35-10 loss Sunday to the Cowboys (via Cleveland.com). "That's for a fact. We're not doing that. Things are going to get on a roll, and we've just got to keep fighting."

For reference: The 2008 Lions are the only NFL team to go 0-16.

"That's motivation,'' Kirksey said. "I don't know if I'm supposed to say this, but we're not going winless. We're not."

More than halfway to that dubious mark, things don't get any easier for the Browns. They've got a short week before facing the Ravens on Thursday in Baltimore, then the schedule shapes up this way: three straight home games (vs. the Steelers, Giants and Bengals) before closing with road games at Buffalo and Pittsburgh sandwiched around a home game vs. the Chargers.

"This is the youngest team in the league right now, and I commend these guys for going out and fighting," said Kirksey, who, by the way, predicted last week that the 0-8 Browns would go 8-0 to finish the season.

So much for that guarantee.
