Broncos edge rusher Shane Ray, who sought a second opinion on his troublesome left wrist, according to KUSA, will undergo a fourth operation on the surgically repaired left wrist, ESPN.com reported, citing an unidentified source.

Ray, 25, is expected to miss at least three months and the reported "clean-up procedure" could jeopardize his start of the 2018 regular season.

He burst onto the NFL scene in 2016 with eight sacks as a rookie, but the wrist has hampered his play since before last season and he was limited to just one sack in 2017.

Since then, the Broncos have used the No. 5 overall pick in this year's NFL Draft to select pass-rushing linebacker Bradley Chubb from N.C. State and also declined to pick up the $9.23 million fifth-year option for 2019 on Ray's contract, making him a free agent after this season.
