Chris Harris could stay in Denver, but his time with the Broncos might not last longer than the upcoming season.
The veteran cornerback requested a new contract or a trade, and according to a recent report from The Athletic, discussions centered around a short-term deal have begun.
Both parties are still talking, but it looks as if the Broncos will try to keep Harris in Denver for the 2019 season.
The report noted there is also talk of a potential pay raise, which was part of Harris' initial request.
Sounds like Chris Harris negotiations are moving to a short-term deal, maybe even a pay raise ($15M?) for 2019 and then a chance for him to hit the open market in 2020. He's compensation this year, including the $1M option bonus he received, is $8.8M. Sides still talking.

Harris, a four-time Pro Bowl player, has spent his entire career with the Broncos since joining the NFL has an undrafted free agent in 2011. He signed a three-year deal that year and then penned a five-year extension in 2015.
Harris, 29, is set to enter the final year of his current contract after Denver exercised his 2018 option last March. However, he did not want to wait for a new deal.
General manager John Elway was asked about the possibility of an extension once Harris' request surfaced in April and said: "We'll talk about it. Doesn't mean we'll do it."
In 123 career games with 105 starts, Harris has logged 19 interceptions — four returned for touchdowns — 80 passes defended and 471 total tackles.
