The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have selected Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston with the first pick of the 2015 NFL Draft.
Winston had long been expected to be the Buccaneers' choice instead of Oregon's Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Marcus Mariota, who was selected with the second pick by the Tennessee Titans.
And Winston will now be tasked with revitalising a franchise that went 2-14 last season following a superb collegiate career.
He will work under Buccaneers coach Lovie Smith and the franchise's general manager Jason Licht.
He told NFL Network: "It was very special [being drafted while at home with his family]. I'm blessed for this opportunity.
"My family is very happy. It's so surreal, it feels like the championship game in 2013.
"I got to be thankful to the Glazers for giving me this opportunity, Mr Licht, coach Smith.
"I look forward to getting in there with the guys, competing, working my tail off and getting some wins."
Winston led Florida State to a National Championship in the 2013 season but could not achieve the same feat in 2014 as the Seminoles lost to Oregon in the College Football Play-off semi-finals.
The 21-year-old Winston threw for 7,964 passing yards and 65 touchdowns at Florida State.
