Hoke is best known for his four-year stint as the University of Michigan’s head coach. The Wolverines went 31-20 during Hoke’s tenure before he was fired and replaced by Jim Harbaugh.

Hoke served as interim head coach for the University of Tennessee last season after Butch Jones was fired with two games remaining. Hoke was also head coach at Ball State (2003 to 2008) and San Diego State (2009 to 2010).

Hoke will be replacing Eric Washington, who was recently promoted to Carolina’s defensive coordinator when Steve Wilks was hired away as Arizona’s head coach.
