Even when he’s not on the sidelines coaching, Bill Belichick remains extremely involved with the game of football.

The legendary NFL head coach is set to appear on a wide variety of shows across different networks throughout the 2024 season, so you’ll likely continue to see a lot of him while he’s away from the field.

While one era of Belichick’s football career came to a close after the 2023 season, another opened for him in the media world.

The Sporting News fills you in on all of Belichick’s current media appearances and where you’ll see him over the 2024 NFL season, along with a recap of how he got to where he is now and his long coaching history.

Bill Belichick media appearances, explained

Belichick will appear on various shows across different platforms this season, including ESPN, Sirius XM, The CW Network, and Underdog Fantasy.

He has a lot on his plate as a football analyst — here’s every show the former coach is set to be involved with this NFL season.

‘ManningCast’ appearances, plus an ESPN film breakdown show

The first of Belichick’s two ESPN agreements is with Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions.

Per an ESPN press release earlier this week, Belichick will appear on all 11 ‘Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli’ telecasts as a featured guest in the first half of the game alongside Peyton and Eli Manning. The show, ESPN’s alternate stream of its Monday night NFL broadcast, gives fans a mix of entertainment and insight from the brothers and their weekly guests.

However, that’s not the end of the Peyton Manning-Belichick collaboration: The longtime Patriots coach will also be joining Manning for a multi-platform original series called ‘The Breakdown.’

In the show, they’ll preview the upcoming ‘Monday Night Football’ game through a film room lens, analyzing each team’s schemes and how they should be game planning. The 30-minute show will release its newest episode each Friday ahead of the following Monday matchup. The first episode of ‘The Breakdown’ will be released Sept. 6, where the pair of NFL legends will preview Week 1's Jets vs. 49ers game.

Episodes of ‘The Breakdown’ will be on ESPN+ and appear on ESPN2 multiple times leading into ‘Monday Night Football.’

After some initial rumblings about Belichick entering the media space post-Patriots, it was Manning himself who announced Belichick's new involvement with the Monday broadcasts while on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ — which is fitting, considering Belichick will also be involved with that program.

Weekly ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ appearances

Belichick is set to work with another of ESPN's top football personalities in Pat McAfee.

According to the same ESPN press release, every Monday of the NFL season, Belichick will appear on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ to talk through current NFL storylines.

The 72-year-old has already made his first appearances on the show, including his well-regarded debut on its ‘Draft Spectacular’ episode and more appearances before the NFL season. He recently discussed the new kickoff rules alongside McAfee and also called Massachusetts “Taxachusetts” when talking about the state’s income tax.

‘Inside the NFL’

Even outside of his ESPN duties, Belichick will be busy in the media space.

Earlier in the NFL offseason, it was announced that he’d be joining the analyst panel for The CW Network’s ‘Inside the NFL.’ He’ll join three former players — Ryan Clark, Chad Johnson, and Chris Long — on the program, which provides news, highlights, and analysis of the league.

‘Inside the NFL’ airs on The CW Network on Fridays at 9 p.m. ET. Belichick made his debut on the show on Aug. 30.

With such extensive experience as a coach, leader, and football mind, he should provide fans with in-depth knowledge on a wide variety of topics.

Co-hosting SiriusXM show

But wait, there’s more.

SiriusXM announced its new lineup for its “Let’s Go!’ radio show/podcast recently, and just like Belichick’s other planned appearances, it's stacked with big football names.

The six-time Super Bowl champion will join Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby, sports writer Peter King, and broadcaster Jim Gray every week on the show, with occasional guest appearances by Tom Brady.

On Mondays, new episodes of “Let’s Go!’ will drop at 6 p.m. ET on SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio, along with all the major podcast platforms.

Belichick is taking over for Brady, his former quarterback in New England, as the show’s host. In SiriusXM’s press release, Brady commented on the show’s transition between the two Patriots legends.

“For 20 years, I threw the ball for Coach Belichick. Now, I am passing the microphone to him on ‘Let’s Go!’” Brady told SiriusXM. “I will be listening every week as I know Bill and Jim will have lots of great conversations, and I'm looking forward to my guest appearances and joining them during the season.”

While this analyzing job is in the audio space rather than TV, it’s another to add to the list for Belichick.

Underdog Fantasy show

While the rest of Belichick's appearances come with other analysts alongside him, this one is focused only on him; he'll host and produce an original show for Underdog Fantasy while breaking down film, detailing what it’s like to coach in the NFL, and describing how he would prepare for games if he were coaching a team.

Between his various roles at ESPN, ‘Inside the NFL,’ hosting ‘Let’s Go!’ and working on his own Underdog Fantasy show, Belichick has his hands full in football media now that he isn’t coaching.

The 33rd Team

Finally, the last of Belichick’s media roles for the 2024 NFL season is with The 33rd Team. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Belichick will be a "strategic advisor" with The 33rd Team, which provides NFL fans with insights from seasoned media members, coaches, players, front office staff and more.

It isn't clear exactly what Belichick's role will entail, but he is bringing former Patriots assistant and Lions coach Matt Patricia with him along with former Dolphins and Jets head coach Adam Gase. They will further the media company's staff of former coaches, which includes Chuck Pagano, Jay Gruden, Mike Martz and more.

Where is Bill Belichick?

After 24 years at the helm of the Patriots — and five years with the Browns as a young coach in the '90s — Belichick and New England mutually agreed to part ways after the 2023 season.

After countless years of winning, Belichick led the Patriots to the worst record of his coaching career last season. That isn’t to say a lack of talent wasn’t also to blame, but owner Robert Kraft and Belichick agreed the time had come for a new era of Patriots football, and the team later hired Jerod Mayo as its new head coach.

The move wasn’t ugly on the way out, as both sides agreed on the split. However, Belichick never hinted at his potential retirement from coaching — and he still hasn’t.

Despite buzz around his candidacy for the Falcons’ head coach opening, which ESPN later reported he “believed was his” just before they selected Raheem Morris, Belichick went jobless through the 2023 coaching carousel.

There’s a variety of reasons that Belichick wasn’t hired for any of those vacancies, including his potential command of the front office, age, and lack of success without Brady. But by the time the 2025 coaching cycle comes around, it’s expected that he’ll be an option for teams looking for a heavily experienced coach who's won at the highest level possible.

The Athletic recently listed the Cowboys, Bills, and Eagles as future win-now fits for Belichick if things don’t go according to each team’s plans this season. In the same piece, an anonymous “high-ranking team executive” said there will be a “bigger cloud” than usual in the coaching world this season, knowing that Belichick is a free agent.

Belichick, known previously for his gloomy and blunt personality, may be using all of his media appearances in 2024 to showcase coaching promise for a future NFL team. He’s booked with his various media outlets for the time being, but a return to coaching is still a possibility.
