Arizona Cardinals star and veteran wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald tested positive for coronavirus and will sit out the upcoming NFL clash with the New England Patriots.

Fitzgerald landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Thursday, ahead of Sunday's trip to Foxborough to face the Patriots.

Cardinals wide receiver Trent Sherfield was also added to the COVID-19 list, following team-mate and safety Deionte Thompson.

Fitzgerald – in his 17th NFL season – has 43 receptions and 336 yards through 10 games for the Cardinals in 2020.

The 37-year-old and 11-time Pro Bowler has tallied 1,421 receptions, 17,419 yards and 120 touchdowns since being drafted by the Cardinals with the third pick in 2004.

Fitzgerald is second in NFL career receiving yards and receptions, only behind the great Jerry Rice.

The Cardinals (6-4) are third in the NFC West, adrift of the Los Angeles Rams (7-3) and Seattle Seahawks (7-3).
