Police reportedly are looking into whether Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib was involved in an alleged aggravated assault early Wednesday morning.

Dallas police sources told WFAA television that Talib and his brother, Yaqub, were questioned in connection with an incident at a nightclub. Police released a statement (that did not include names) describing the incident. The statement, via Fox Sports, says two men were involved in a physical altercation with at least one other person at Club Luxx on Pearl Street. Just after 2 a.m. police responded to a call regarding an active shooter on foot in the 700 block of North Pearl Street.

"Upon arrival, officers spoke to the complainant who was working at the location," the statement reads. "The complainant stated there was a disturbance inside the location between three black males. The complainant stated he attempted to quell the disturbance by assisting security in escorting the individuals out of the bar, at which time one of the individuals attempted to punch the complainant. The complainant stated he attempted to defend himself by kicking one of the possible assailants. The complainant stated as they reached the front of the location someone produced a gun and pointed it at him. The complainant closed the door and took cover inside the bar. Witnesses outside the location observed a black male outside, fire a round into the air, which caused an immediate panic. All of the involved individuals left the location."

Police say it's an ongoing investigation, and detectives are actively attempting to identify and interview all parties involved.

Talib, who attended high school in Dallas County, and his brother left separately in a white Range Rover and a white Jaguar, respectively, and went to the XTC Cabaret. Police caught up to them there, questioned and released them. Their vehicles were towed to be searched for forensic evidence linked to the alleged assault, WFAA reported.

Talib was Tampa Bay's first-round draft pick out of Kansas in 2008. After four years with the Bucs, he went to the Patriots for two seasons before joining the Broncos in 2014.

Talib is no stranger to off-field controversy. He got into a fistfight at the NFL rookie symposium in 2008. He was charged with assault in 2009 for allegedly battering a taxi driver and was charged in 2011 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon — he allegedly fired a gun at his sister's boyfriend. That charge was dropped a year later.
