The Chiefs are on an incredible run: they're appearing in a fifth consecutive AFC championship game.
This time around, it will be against the Bengals, to whom they lost in this game last season. Behind the streak is the dynamic duo of Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. The latter is on his second streak or four more conference championship game appearances.
Although Reid and the Chiefs are still three championship appearances away from matching the Patriots' record of eight in a row, Reid has already tied for the NFC record, having made four straight conference championship games with the Eagles from 2001-04, culminating in a loss in Super Bowl 39.

Reid has won a Super Bowl with the Chiefs and is in the midst of his 18th playoff appearance. Here's what to know about his full postseason history.
How many playoff appearances has Andy Reid made?
In his time with the Eagles and Chiefs, Reid has made 18 playoff appearances total. He has coached in 36 postseason games. Only Bill Belichick and Don Shula have coached more.
What is Andy Reid's playoff record?
Reid is 20-16 in his playoff career after the Chiefs' win over the Jaguars in the 2023 divisional round.
He tied Tom Landry for second-most playoff wins among NFL coaches. He trails only Belichick, who is 31-13 in the playoffs. Reid's .556 winning percentage is also tied with Landry for second-best.
Reid is one off Landry in Super Bowl victories, having one to Landry's two. Belichick has the most Super Bowl wins with six (several pre-Super Bowl coaches have six or more NFL championships).

Andy Reid conference championship record
Reid is about to coach in his 10th conference championship game.
Once again, he finds himself tied with Landry, who also coached 10 conference championship games. Belichick, again, holds the record with his 13 AFC championship game appearances.
Reid has struggled in conference championship games. He went 1-4 with the Eagles and is 2-2 with the Chiefs, making him 3-6 for his career.
He is 1-2 in Super Bowls. The Eagles lost to the Patriots in Super Bowl 39, while the Chiefs beat the 49ers in Super Bowl 54 and lost to the Buccaneers in Super Bowl 55.
Despite the drama around Mahomes' ankle sprain and other championship week storylines, Reid has been all business talking about the Bengals.

"Well, we know they’re talented in all three phases," Reid said, per Yahoo. "It's the same guys playing against each other. I’m sure both teams will have adjustments that they make and both teams will play hard, and we’ll just see. I mean, these games have been close, so we’ll just see how it goes come game time."
The Bengals eked out a 27-24 win over the Chiefs in Cincinnati in December. Joe Burrow turned in an outstanding performance (25-for-31 passing, 286 yards, two touchdowns; 46 yards and a TD rushing) and Samaje Perine rushed for 106 yards.
