Robinson, who played collegiately at Temple, started his NFL career in 2012 when he signed as an undrafted free agent with the Steelers. He played 12 games in his rookie season before he was traded to the Eagles for running back Felix Jones. The Eagles released Robinson a week later. He went on to play a combined eight games with the Broncos, Chargers and Redskins in 2013.

After taking 2014 off, Robinson signed a contract with the Canadian Football League's Hamilton Tiger-Cats last month.

A Temple spokesman told the Inquirer on Sunday the football program was grieving and the university was not prepared to make a comment. Robinson, a Harrisburg, Penn., native, played for the Owls from 2008-2011 where he was a two-year starter and two-time All-MAC selection. He was selected the conference player of the year in 2009.

He last tweeted five days ago from the Twitter account @CuatroTres

Symmetry, the agency that represented Robinson, posted this message to its Facebook page Sunday:

"Adrian was a beloved father, son, brother, friend and teammate. We ask that you please respect his family's privacy during this difficult time, and especially keep his daughter Avery Marie in your prayers. Thank you for all of your support and consideration."
