The Minnesota Vikings might still be holding their breath after watching running back Adrian Peterson being helped off the field Sunday night against the Green Bay Packers.

Peterson went down in the third quarter after a short run. He tried to get back up, but he was unable to put any weight on his right leg as he left the field.

Shortly after Peterson left, Sam Bradford found Stefon Diggs in the end zone to increase the Vikings' lead to 17-7. However, while Diggs was celebrating his touchdown, Peterson was shown on the broadcast being carried down the tunnel and into the locker room, still unable to put weight on his leg. Trainers examined the right, outside part of his knee.

The Vikings announced Peterson would not return to the game with an injury to the knee, which bent awkwardly at the end of the run, as did his right ankle.

Peterson tore the ACL in his left knee in 2011. He underwent surgery and made one of the fastest recoveries in the injury's history. Vikings fans and fantasy owners will be waiting anxiously to find out the severity of Peterson's injury.

The incident comes mere weeks after the Vikings saw starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater lose his season to a knee injury.
