Adrian Peterson injury update: Redskins running back says he's 'ready to go' image

Adrian Peterson had an MRI on Monday that revealed he has a Grade 1 high ankle sprain and a Grade 2 low ankle sprain, the Redskins running back told ESPN .

But that's not stopping Peterson from preparing for Thursday's matchup against the Vikings as he said he expects to be "good" to play against his former team.

Peterson injured his ankle in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the 49ers after fumbling. He ended up finishing the 9-0 loss with 20 carries for 81 yards.

"Night (and) day from (Monday)," Peterson told NFL.com of his improvement. "I should (be) ready to go."

The veteran running back popped up on the team's Week 8 injury report, and did not practice Tuesday.

Peterson has a history of injuries as he tore his ACL in 2011 and later tore his meniscus in 2016. He was then limited to just 10 games between the Saints and Cardinals in 2017 because of a neck injury. He played in all 16 games last season, but dealt with ankle, knee and shoulder injuries.

Peterson, 34, has rushed for 307 yards and one touchdown on 83 carries in six games this season.
