After being found guilty of first-degree murder and handed a life sentence without parole, Aaron Hernandez will never step foot on another football field. Ironically enough, however, he will serve his time within shouting distance of the field that made him millions of dollars.

Hernandez will serve his life sentence at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution (MCI) — Cedar Junction at Warpole, a maximum-security prison just a 4.8 kilometres drive from Gillette Stadium — home of the Patriots.

Hernandez played three seasons for the Patriots after being selected in the fourth round of the 2010 draft. He finished his career with 175 receptions for 1,956 yards and 18 touchdowns.
