The story behind a church's Jadeveon Clowney sign image

Jadeveon Clowney puts fans of any team on edge, so it stands to reason those fans might seek divine intervention when stopping No. 7 for South Carolina. So it was only a mild surprise, given how some churches try to be eye-catching with their signs, when this photo of a sign (originating on Reddit) went viral Wednesday afternoon.

We called First Presbyterian Church Wednesday afternoon to verify the sign existed -- and yes, it did at one point -- but it was just part of a promotion for ESPN's "College GameDay." A similar message also appeared on the Georgia Theatre.

In fact, the First Presbyterian Church sent Sporting News this photo of their sign, which has already been changed back to a more traditional, non-SEC football geared message.

Thank you to the kind folks at First Presbyterian for sharing the updated photo.

UPDATE: And here's a photo we shared on Twitter of the filming.
