Maryland won the Duke's Mayo Bowl on Friday, defeating NC State 16-12 in a defensive battle, which meant the game's annual mayonnaise bath had found its latest victim.
Maryland coach Mike Locksley took a seat where South Carolina's Shane Beamer did a year ago and found himself on the receiving end of a giant tub of mayo.

Locksley was about as hesitant as you'd expect. He told a reporter before the mayo came down that he isn't of a fan of the condiment but would do it for the win and for Duke's commitment to donating $10,000 to a charity of his choice. Locksley was presented with a check just before the mayo bath commenced.

Locksley tried to sneak his way out of receiving the full brunt of the mayo, and his players noticed. The fourth-year coach wore a big hat, made popular by Brian Robinson Jr., to shield his head from the condiment.
The hat did protect Locksley until he took it off at the request of his players and got the rest dumped on the top of his head.

It's fair to say Locksley came out of this year's mayo bath in better shape than Beamer did in 2021. Beamer was hit in the head by the tub of mayo before it was poured all over him after last year's win over North Carolina, prompting Duke's Mayo to hold some practice rounds this time around.

About to practice the Mayo Dump.

Locksley wasn't hit by the tub, but he couldn't escape the mayo. Neither could broadcasters Anish Shroff and Brock Osweiler, who ate mayonnaise macarons in the booth next to Tubby, the Duke's Mayo Bowl's nightmarish mascot.

All that's left for Tubby to do now is wait for his next victim next season.
