Ohio State will play in the Big Ten championship game without quarterback J.T. Barrett, who left Saturday's game after fracturing his right ankle.
The school announced that Barrett will have surgery Sunday and is out for the season.
The Buckeyes play Wisconsin next week for the Big Ten title. Cardale Jones replaced Barrett and will start against the Badgers with a potential spot in the four-team playoff on the line.
The Buckeyes medical staff took every precaution when Barrett was injured:
To repeat: Ohio State QB J.T. Barrett had right leg bent on run. Air cast placed on right leg. Carted off field. Cardale Jones in.
