Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley addressed the media one day after it was announced Will Muschamp will be dismissed after the regular season.
Foley said the university will hire a search firm to assist with the hiring of the next coach. He also said the Gators hope to have a new coach in December. Muschamp, meanwhile, will not coach in the postseason.
"Will will not coach a bowl game,"Foley said. "That was his decision."

Florida (5-4) can become bowl eligible with a win against Eastern Kentucky on Saturday.
News on Muschamp came after Florida lost 23-20 to South Carolina in overtime on Saturday. Muschamp is 27-20 with a 17-15 record in SEC play since taking over as coach in 2011.
"When things aren't working, you have to make difficult decisions," Foley said. "I'll miss working with Will."
ESPN’s Brett McMurphy tweeted that sources told him Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen and Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez are not among those being considered to replace Muschamp.
