That puts Golson in position to compete with Sean Maguire to replace Jameis Winston as the Seminoles' starting quarterback in 2015.
Golson led Notre Dame to a 12-0 record in the regular season and a spot in the BCS championship game in 2012. He was suspended for the 2013 season as a result of an academic violation.
Golson returned as the starter for the Irish in 2014. He passed for 3,445 yards and 29 TDs, but he also struggled with turnovers. He split time with Malik Zaire in the Music City Bowl.
