Wait a second. Deshaun Watson did what?

Sure, he threw for 269 and two touchdowns and ran for another two in a 35-17 win against South Carolina.

But he did it after tearing an ACL two days before the Georgia State game earlier this season?

That's what Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said after the game Saturday. Swinney told reporters after the victory that Watson will have surgery after Clemson's bowl game.

Clemson played Georgia State on Nov. 22, meaning the injury occurred Nov. 20, just nine days ago.

Watson had missed four full games and parts of two more with a broken hand and minor knee injury.

He was seen running up and down the sideline prior to Saturday's game to see if he felt good enough to play, but no one in attendance or watching on TV was aware of the ACL injury.

And while Watson's toughness should be admired, the Clemson coaching staff will be criticized for allowing the freshman quarterback to play with that sort of injury, regardless of how effective he played in the win.
