Amari Cooper sets receptions record in big Bama first half image

Alabama’s first half performance in the SEC Championship Game against Missouri wasn’t perfect, but it was close.

Especially for QB Blake Sims. The senior quarterback completed 15 of 17 passes for 160 yards with a 58-yard TD pass to DeAndrew White.

Sims completed 10 of his throws to Amari Cooper. The 10th one gave him the SEC single-season record for receptions in a season with 113. Vanderbilt’s Jordan Matthews — now with the Philadelphia Eagles — held the record and was one of the first to congratulate Cooper.

Alabama led 21-3 at the half, moving within 30 minutes of locking up a spot in the first College Football Playoff.
