Fallout from the Wake Forest game-plan scandal appears to be coming to an end.
The Atlantic Coast Conference on Saturday fined Virginia Tech and Louisville $25,000 each for their roles in accepting game plans from former Demon Deacons radio announcer Tommy Elrod.
The bizarre story broke on Tuesday after it was revealed Wake Forest's play plans for its Nov. 12 game against Louisville were found at the Cardinals' stadium. Louisville won the game 44-12.
Virginia Tech lost its 2014 game at Wake Forest 6-3 in double overtime, despite a former assistant coach receiving the inside information.
Wake Forest fired Elrod and Louisville suspended co-offensive coordinator Lonnie Galloway for the Citrus Bowl against LSU.

“I am deeply disturbed something like this would occur, and regardless of the degree of involvement, the protection of the competitive integrity of our games is fundamental to any athletic contest,” ACC commissioner John Swofford said in a statement.
“Sportsmanship and ethical values are at the core of competitive integrity and in these instances, those were missing. The expectation, regardless of the sport, is that any athletics department staff members would immediately communicate with their supervisor if they are approached by someone from another institution with proprietary information.”
The $50,000 paid to the ACC will he placed into a postgraduate scholarship account.
