For the second time in five seasons, Morehead State coach Sean Woods has been suspended with pay, while the school investigates complaints it has received.

The school did not release the nature of the complaints but according to WTVQ-TV, Morehead State players are petitioning NCAA with arguments of mistreatment and a hostile environment as reasons to transfer and be able to play immediately.

"Resulting from complaints received, the institution has begun an investigation involving the head basketball coach. While we continue through the formal process, we believe it is prudent to suspend the coach until the investigation is finished," Morehead State athletic director Brian Hutchinson said in a statement.

"Assistant coach Preston Spradlin will serve as head coach in the interim, until the investigation is completed. We have full confidence in Preston and his ability to lead our student-athletes both on and off the court. Since this is an ongoing process, we will be unable to comment further until this comes to a conclusion."

In 2012, Woods was suspended for one game following an incident during involving then Morehead State guard Devon Atkinson.

Woods is 77-65 at Morehead State and is under contract through the 2019-20 season. Woods replaced Donnie Tyndall, whose tenure landed the program on NCAA probation for two years.
