Decision nears for top-20 prospect Carlton Bragg; Kansas, Kentucky or Illinois image

Get to know Carlton Bragg. College hoops fans will hear plenty about him this week as Bragg prepares to announce which college program he will choose.

Bragg is a 6-9 power forward from Cleveland. According to Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School, he will go public with his decision on Thursday.

Three teams are finalists for Bragg, according to Cleveland.com: Kansas, Kentucky and Illinois. Bragg earlier dropped UCLA, Arizona and Ohio State from his calculations.

How good is he? Bragg is a five-star prospect, according to 247Sports.com, which lists his height at 6-8. He is Ohio's best prospect and among the top 20 college seniors.

In its evaluation, Rivals.com says Bragg is explosive in transition, has good leaping and running ability and is a threat from 3-point range as well as getting to the basket. He must get stronger and better attack the basket and not settle for outside shots. It's also believed Bragg must become more consistent, not an uncommon problem for high school big men.

While national powers Kansas and Kentucky seem likely destinations, NBC Sports warns against counting out Illinois. Coach John Groce, it reports, has been hot for Bragg. One suspects he might talk up his program's plans for Bragg against the other schools' loaded lineup and potential for limited playing time.
