Brisbane Bullets player Harry Froling has been hospitalised with a fractured skull and bleed on the brain following an alleged one-punch attack suffered early Sunday morning in Wollongong.
Froling, 24, was removed from a nightclub around 2 am the morning after Brisbane’s Saturday night win over the Illawarra Hawks.
He was walking down Crown Street when he was allegedly punched in the face by an unidentified man, before falling backward and suffering his injuries.
He was attended to by bystanders and was hospitalised, but discharged himself later that morning, opting to return to Brisbane with the rest of his team.
But once returning to Brisbane, Froling attended Brisbane’s Prince Charles Hospital after complaining of headaches, where the true extent of his injuries was revealed.
On Tuesday, a 19-year-old man was arrested over the alleged assault after turning himself into Wollongong Police Station.
He required immediate surgery and remains in the hospital in a stable condition, and will miss the remainder of the NBL season.
Froling is back with Brisbane this season after a one-year stint in Wollongong last year, and is currently averaging 5.4 points, 4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game.
