The Hall of Famer holds numerous impressive honours including FIBA World Cup's all-time leading scorer (843 career points), Olympic basketball's all-time scorer (1,094 career points), seven time leading scorer in the Italian league among other accolades.
On Saturday (AEDT), the three-time Hall of Famer (Naismith, FIBA, Italian league) took to the court as part of the NBA Celebrity Game.
It came as no shock when Schmidt took and made his first shot.
Even at age 59 Schmidt showed the touch that made him one of the greatest scorers the game had ever seen.
It also made NBA fans wish he had played in the league at some point in his career.
