If Stephen Curry started the 2015-16 season any hotter, Oracle Arena would have had to be evacuated.
The reigning NBA MVP showed no signs of a championship hangover early in the season opener against the Pelicans, scoring 24 points in the first quarter. The Warriors opened a 39-35 lead over the Pelicans in a run-and-gun showdown.

Curry went 9 for 13 from the field in the quarter, hitting 4 of 7 3-point shots. Curry's 24 points are the most for any player in the first quarter of a season opener in the last 20 years. He ended the half with 29 points as the Warriors led 59-49.
On a night when the Warriors revealed their banner and got their championship rings, the team and its star player made a big opening statement to the rest of the league.
