Age is just a number for Vince Carter.

The All-Star small forward just finished his 19th season as the Grizzlies were eliminated from the playoffs, but has no intention of from walking away from the NBA even though he will be a free agent this summer.

"I said to myself 'I want to play 15 years.' I don't know where I got that from," the 40-year-old Carter said, via RealGM.com. "And then I got to 15 years and I kept going. I never capped it, but at the same time I've had a lot of players remind me of things I've said. I'm still saying 'two more years and I'm done."

Despite his age, Carter thinks his body works better now than it did when he was 25. He averaged 8.0 points and 3.1 rebounds for Memphis as he continues to climb the all-time charts.

"I could play three more rounds of basketball right now," said Carter, who hopes to re-sign with the Grizzlies.

Carter sits 22nd on the NBA scoring list with 24,555 points, the third-highest total among active players entering next season with Paul Pierce retiring. Despite eight All-Star appearances, acrobatic dunks and veteran leadership, the future Hall of Famer is still without a championship ring.

"I hear people say all the time, 'Go chase the ring.' That word 'chase' is tough for me," Carter said. "I'm comfortable here, my family is comfortable here, we're building something exciting and great and I enjoy going to work with these guys every day."
