The release of NBA 2K24 is right around the corner. The popular video game is set to drop on Friday, Sept. 8.

As is tradition, the NBA 2K team slowly rolls out the ratings for the newest edition, causing debates on social media over who's too high and too low.

Earlier this week, NBA 2K announced that Nikola Jokic will be the highest-rated player in the game at 98 overall. There is a five-way tie for the second-highest rating, as Stephen Curry, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid and LeBron James are all rated 96 overall.

One of the most anticipated reveals for NBA 2K24 was Spurs' No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama, who has already been deemed a generational talent before he has even stepped on an NBA court.

What is Wembanyama's rating? And how does it compare to other rookies in NBA 2K history? The Sporting News has answers below.

Wembanyama's debut rating in NBA 2K24 is an 84 overall. He joined NBA 2K's "Ronnie 2K" in person to find out his rating in real-time.

"Ah, that's nice, that's nice," Wembanyama said as he nodded in approval once he saw his rating.

Ronnie 2K asked, "What's it going to be by the end of the season? Are you gonna be a 90?" Wembanyama stated confidently, "Yeah, for sure. No doubt. Of course."

Wembanyama's debut rating of 84 overall makes him the highest-rated rookie in NBA 2K24 history.

When James made his debut in NBA 2K4, he was only a 78 overall. Other sure-fire stars like Durant and Luka Doncic were 80 and 79 overall, respectively.

Prior to Wembanyama's 84, the highest-rated rookies in NBA 2K history were Kyrie Irving and Zion Williamson, who both debuted at an 81 overall.

For comparison, based on final NBA 2K23 ratings, Wembanyama is already ranked higher than players like Draymond Green (83 overall), Fred VanVleet (83), Kyle Kuzma (83), Andrew Wiggins (82), Marcus Smart (82) and Russell Westbrook (81).
