An MRI revealed that Trae Young suffered a bone bruise in his right foot in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Atlanta Hawks announced.

Atlanta head coach Nate McMillan originally announced Young as a game-time decision for Game 4, before ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Malika Andrews reported he will miss the game.

Here's everything we currently know about Young's injury.

Trae Young's injury timeline

Young suffered the injury near the end of the third quarter in Game 3.

Following a turnover, Young inadvertently stepped on the foot of a referee, who was standing out of bounds. Young walked to the locker room shortly thereafter to get his ankle checked out.

Young returned in the fourth quarter. He checked back in with 8:44 remaining and exited the game in the final minute, by which point the Bucks had a double-digit lead.

Young finished the game with 35 points, 32 of which came prior to his injury.

"When he came back to the bench, I was told that he was available," Hawks head coach Nate McMillan said of Young. "Once he got out there, and I saw he wasn't moving well, when I took him out for the last few seconds, he couldn't go back. I was basically looking to rotate him offense/defense, and he just couldn't go back."

It was revealed that Young would have an MRI on his ankle on Monday morning.

"It's sore right now," Young said of his ankle afterwards. "It's hurting, it's frustrating ... it's hurting a little bit and it's sore."

Trae Young's injury history

Young appeared in 63 of 72 games during the regular season.

Young missed back-to-back games in mid-April due to a left calf contusion. He then missed four straight games later that month due to a left ankle sprain he suffered in an overtime loss to the New York Knicks on April 21.

With Young on the court during the regular season, the Hawks scored at a rate of 118.2 points per 100 possessions. With him on the bench, they scored only 104.4 points per 100 possessions.

Young has yet to miss a game in these playoffs.
