The Warriors have been making mincemeat out of their opponents this postseason, and they got some unexpected great news Wednesday when they learned head coach Steve Kerr will make the trip to San Antonio for Game 3.

Warriors president of basketball operations Bob Myers confirmed Wednesday on 97.5 The Game that Kerr will travel with the team, and he came to the decision on his own.

“It’s great, we all respect him so much that we let him make those decisions," Myers said. "I asked him what he was thinking, and he said he was ready to go. If we sensed he was harming himself by doing so we would have stepped in. But Steve is smart."

Kerr has not coached since the team's first playoff series against the Trail Blazers due to chronic back pain. He rejoined the Warriors for the first two games of the Western Conference finals at Oracle Arena, talking to his players and the media and watching games from the locker room. He even attended practice before Game 2.

With that being said, Myers made it clear Kerr is still not ready to coach.

“He’s doing what he can," Myers said of Kerr. "It is all encouraging, but I can’t sit here and say he’s over any kind of hump. He wouldn't’t say that. But the more he’s around, the better we are.”

The Warriors trounced the Spurs 136-100 in Game 2 Tuesday night. They have yet to lose a game this postseason.

Acting coach Mike Brown will continue to fill in while Kerr recovers.
