Still more than a couple sleeps away from the start of the NBA season in mid-October, but Ben Simmons gave fans something to get excited about on Tuesday (AEDT).

The 2016 first overall pick who missed the entire season due to a foot injury before the year even began has had plenty of time to sit and get ready mentally for his NBA debut.

Simmons took to his instragram account and stated that "it's going to be a scary sight" when he takes the court this season for the Philadelphia Sixers.

"I've had a year to learn, experience and develop my game to the point where I'm ready grab this up coming season by the throat. Looking back now I would have killed the old me on the court," Simmons continued.

The process has been in place for Philly to take the next step for a few years, and 2017-18 may be the year.

With a healthy Simmons, Joel Embiid and Markelle Fultz all scheduled to be ready for training camp in October, the future may not only be bright for the Sixers - it may be now in a weak Eastern Conference.
