The No. 5 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, Exum started his NBA career with the Utah Jazz. He was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2019-20 season, only to then be traded to the Rockets during the 2020-21 season. Exum didn't appear in a game with the Rockets last season because of a calf strain.
After he played a key role in Australia's bronze-medal run in the Tokyo Olympics, Exum signed a reported three-year deal with the Rockets that was non-guaranteed and "heavy on incentives." ESPN's Bobby Marks called it "one of the more unique contracts" in the NBA.
In 245 career games (72 starts), Exum has posted averages of 5.7 points, 2.1 assists and 1.8 rebounds on .407/.305/.764 shooting splits.
Houston's season gets underway on Oct. 20 (ET) when the Rockets face the Minnesota Timberwolves.
