Aldridge and the Spurs came to an agreement on a buyout following the trade deadline.
In 21 games with the Spurs this season, 18 of which he started in, Aldridge averaged 13.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists on 46.4 percent shooting from the field and 36.0 percent from 3-point range.
In Brooklyn, Aldridge will join forces with a number of current and former All-Stars in Kyrie Irving, James Harden, Kevin Durant, DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin. According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, he is expected to see "a significant amount of his minutes" at centre for the Nets.
At 31-15, the Nets currently have the second-best record in the Eastern Conference, trailing the Philadelphia 76ers in first by 1.5 games.
