The Kyrie Irving sweepstake hasn't yet found a winner but it may have found a new contestant.

On Wednesday (AEDT), Toronto Raptors GM Bobby Webster told TSN 1050 Radio that the team has indeed reached out to the Cavaliers to inquire about Kyrie Irving.

"Definitely," Webster told hosts Michael Landsberg and Matt Cauz.

"We all do our due diligence. Things don't always make sense, but if they do we're always prepared."

At first glance, it would make sense that All-Star Kyle Lowry would be a part of the deal. The Raptors recently re-signed him to a three-year $100-million (USD) contact, and he can't be traded by the team until the new year due to league rules.

That hasn't stopped Toronto, a team looking to make a jump in the Eastern Conference from inquiring about the disgruntled Irving.

Pairing Irving with DeMar DeRozan would possibly offer the Raptors the scoring punch they would need to finally be able to top Cleveland.

How interested the Cavaliers would be in helping their conference foes become more potent remains to be seen, but that hasn't stopped the team from the six from trying.

"That's a lot of talk that we do, that doesn't really see the light of day that happens behind closed doors," Webster added.

"When a player like that becomes available you'd be remiss not to call."
