The struggling Grizzlies are talking to the Heat about acquiring point guard Mario Chalmers, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
Memphis lacks options behind starter Mike Conley and would like to add someone with Chalmers' experience, Stein reported. The Grizzlies (2-2) were blown out 119-69 by the Warriors on Monday, so it's not surprising they want to shake up things.
Chalmers is set to make $4.3 million in the final year of a two-year contract. He averaged a career-high 10.2 points per game last season despite shooting just 41 percent from the field. All indications are that he would be open to leaving Miami, considering he has been critical of how he's being used as the backup to Goran Dragic.
"It's definitely been tough, but I'm built like that . . . for tough moments, to deal with things," Chalmers said via ESPN. "I've always had the odds stacked against me. That's what made me who I am.
"Especially with the way things have been going, I've got to prove every day why I'm here, why I've got two championship rings, why I was a starting point guard on two championship teams. So I've just got to keep proving myself."
