NBA Playoffs 2020: Celtics' Gordon Hayward exits Game 1 vs. 76ers with right ankle sprain image

In the fourth quarter of the Game 1 between the third-seed Boston Celtics and the sixth-seed Philadelphia 76ers, Gordon Hayward exited the game with what the Celtics announced as a right ankle sprain.

With 3:08 left on the game clock, Hayward awkwardly on his right ankle. He subsequently checked out of the game and did not return to the floor.

When he left the game, the 6'7" forward had recorded 12 points, four rebounds, four steals, and three assists in 35 minutes of action. 

The Celtics went on to win Game 1, 109-101 over the 76ers, taking a 1-0 lead in what is the 22nd playoff series in this illustrious rivalry.

Postgame, head coach Brad Stevens indicated that Hayward's ankle was swollen but doesn't know the severity.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Malika Andrews,  Hayward, who left the arena on crutches and with his foot in a boot as per Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe, is set to undergo MRI later today.
