The Wizards will now have a chance to match Brooklyn's offer. They have until Sunday AEDT to complete the qualifying offer and have every intention to do so.

Porter developed into a reliable scoring threat last season, but was still forced to play third-fiddle behind John Wall and Bradley Beal.

Brooklyn has been busy this season, having already sprung a trade with the Lakers that helped them land D'Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov for Brook Lopez.

Washington missed out on acquiring Paul George from the Pacers, so it may be tempted to match Brooklyn's offer. The Wizards are still trying to catch the Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference, and Porter is a key member to their team.

If the Wizards do pass on Porter, who averaged 13.4 points and 6.4 rebounds last season, he could immediately become Brooklyn's go-to scoring threat.
